If you have a smartphone or other USB device charger you can use it if you don’t want to use the charger that came with the radio. The marine case is touted as being waterproof/resistant so Uniden kept the moisture resistant feature and advertised it as a plus for the SDS100. But the marine portables don’t use SDR.Location. It is known that the BC780XLT did not use this serial number protocol so it was likely instituted about 2001 with the follow up BC785D and BC250D which did. I noticed the SDS100 has a dedicated battery pack so that is a buzzkill compared to AA batteries I'm used to. I will be required to purchase an extra battery and charger.
